I have always made it a habit to not talk about politics. It's a exercise in futility. I'm not going to change your mind and you're certainly not going to change mine. So this blog is not intended to persuade anyone one way or the other.
But I cannot with a clear conscience approach election day without getting somethings off my chest. I do this fully knowing that it will upset some people and I may lose some friends over it. But honestly the way that I look at it is, if you think any less of me for voicing my opinion than you're not really a friend anyway, and we can do each other a favor by not having to go through the charade anymore...........so, with that disclaimer I shall begin.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, than you can be pretty damn sure that it is a duck. You can dress it up and worship it. You can project all of your wants, needs and dreams onto it. You can hope that it isn't really what you think it is......but no matter what you tell people, no matter what spin you put on it, no matter how many other people tell you that it isn't a duck......It still is!
Barack Obama is a socialist. The funny thing is that he isn't even trying to hide this fact. But people don't listen, people don't do research (and if they do, they skip over the things they don't want to know or justify to themselves that the things he has done and said in the past wasn't what it sounded like)
Now if you agree with his policies of the past and what he is proposing for the future, that is fine......I have no problem with that. But either have the guts to call it what it is...or admit that you are just blindly following this man down a path, and really have no idea what he stands for....but do not insult the intelligence of everyone by wrapping him in an American flag and telling us how his version of change is going to be great for this country. (tax cuts for 95% of us and raise taxes on big business and the wealthy.....come on, please, did no one in this country study economics or live through the Jimmy Carter era?).
I have no idea which way this election is going to go. It is still my hope that there are enough Americans out there who still believe in capitalism and a free market economy to keep this man out of office.
If not, we as a country deserve what will be coming to us. If pop culture and the cult of personality has risen above patriotism and honor......if we have truly strayed so far from what our country was founded on, and the basic fundamentals that have made the United States the strongest and most blessed country on the face of the earth.......than we shall reap what we will have sown.
As I have said, this blog is not meant to change anyones mind, nor is it to debate all of the specifics. It is simply my way of clearing my conscience, separating myself from those who do chose to elect this man to office and to wash my hands of what will be in store for this country if that grave mistake is made.
My advice to everyone is to VOTE if you are informed and can live with the consequences, and stay away from the polls if you're not. This is not American Idol......our lives depend on your choice!
